Responsible Tire Recycling.com is a joint effort between environmentally responsible companies that want to encourage sustainable tire recycling in the United States. Our mission is to promote environmentally responsible recycling and provide services and markets for scrap tires. What is Responsible Tire Recycling? A scrap tire is made up of several natural resources which can be reclaimed, reused, and recycled. The basic composition of a tire includes rubber, oil, steel and various fibers. Responsible recycling is using methods that can reuse the individual natural resources or utilize them as alternative fuels. Examples of Responsible Tire Recycling Applications: Landfilling of Scrap Tires Unfortunately, in some states it is still legal to landfill whole and processed tires. Our goal is to eliminate this practice in the United States and create sustainable markets that will provide scrap tire transporters and processors profitable outlets that properly reclaim and recycle these value natural resources. What are the consequences of landfilling scrap tires? Scrap tires do not degrade and can take up valuable space in our ever shrinking landfills causing the need to build more or expand our current ones. In some cases, scrap tires will float to the top of the landfills breaking caps and liners. Scrap tires can also provide two potential health issues: infestation of rodents/mosquitoes and fire danger. |
