Several new recycling options have appeared in the last ten years that focus on processing scrap tires to remove the steel for use in land applications. These options take advantage of the basic properties of rubber and its elasticity and the fact it does not biodegrade over time.

Athletic Field Surfaces

Recycled scrap tires can be used as a turf dressing on natural grass and on artificial playing fields.  On natural grass athletic fields, use of this product reduces maintenance expense and player injury. On artificial playing fields it is used as a base material under the synthetic turf and restores the feel of natural grass to running and the behavior of the baseballs, soccer balls, and footballs as they roll on the surface.
